Overview

Originally founded in 1896 in a coastal town of Iwate Prefecture, Akabu Shuzo was tragically destroyed by the 2011 tsunami. Miraculously resurrected in Morioka City in 2013 under the passionate leadership of its young sixth-generation master brewer, Ryunosuke Furudate, the brewery creates a new history by blending traditional Nanbu Toji techniques with modern precision. "Gokujo no Kire" is the ultimate expression of their unwavering dedication. It is brewed slowly using local Yuinoka rice during the absolute coldest months of January and February. To capture its peak freshness, the sake is pressed at a freezing -2°C, bottled immediately, and strictly stored at sub-zero temperatures.
