Tasting Notes

Tenko 20 Heavenly Grace opens with an elegant bouquet of flowers and tropical fruit, followed by a full, polished palate with a remarkably smooth, silky texture. Its balanced profile and measured acidity give the sake clarity and structure without diminishing its depth. Serve chilled at 10–15°C as an aperitif or alongside sashimi, caviar, fresh oysters, and beef tartare.

Overview

Tenko 20 represents one of Kodama Brewing’s most ambitious expressions. Introduced in 2018 as a new challenge for the brewery, it is made with Yamadanishiki polished to 20% and was first presented at VINEXPO New York that same year. Despite the extensive polishing, the sake retains a full, composed presence, pairing highly refined aromatics with a smooth, silky texture. Presented in a dedicated gift box, it is well suited to celebratory occasions and serious sake collections.

The Tenko line was first released in 1989, when Junmai Daiginjo represented less than one percent of Japan’s total sake shipments. Tenko 20 extends that pioneering spirit through a still more ambitious level of rice polishing and refinement.
